The Big Secret In Life

I’ve combed through a library of inspirational and motivational books. I tried to uncover secrets of successful people. I thought there must be a specific strategy,a technique, an insider’s secret in order to have the life you want, to achieve your dreams. But guess what? All the books I have bought, borrowed and read all say the same thing. And that is, there are no quick fix, magic pill or potion to achieving whatever we set out to do like, reaching a career goal, losing weight or improve our relationships. Anything worth achieving is available through intelligent and diligent hard work to anyone who is willing to apply his mind, body and spirit toward the life he or she wants.

We live in a ready mixed society. We have come to expect gratification immediately and we look for possible shortcuts in our undertaking. But if you want to master yourself and be the best that you can be, you must be able to surrender completely to the demand of the quest. Personal mastery takes continual practice and gains pleasure in repetitious acts.

Whatever your goal you have this year, you can get there as long as you are willing to roll up your sleeve and be honest with yourself about the preparation and work involved.
Each time you make a decision to move toward the life you say you want ask yourself, “ Will I persevere when I most want to quit? Will I pull myself out of bed for my daily run even if I don’t feel like it?” We all know that if you raid the fridge every night and never hit the gym, surely you will get fat. If you don’t work at earning a living, you will always be broke. If you don’t invest time in your relationships they will fade away and as a consequence you will get lonely and sad.

Now I know the BIG SECRET IN LIFE. And that is, THERE”S NO BIG SECRET. There are no back doors , no free rides. There’s just you, this moment and a choice. Choose only good old consistent and unrelenting hard work.

Even if we hit those inevitable plateaus, when we are not making visible progress. Take Heart. Just keep on keeping on. One day, you will have the life you have always dream of.
